Playgroup

 Our Aim

To provide a safe, secure and stimulating play environment, where children are cared for and learn through well resourced and planned activities, whatever their race, culture, religion, means or ability.

 Flexibility for Parents

Our playgroup children have a unique opportunity to explore in their own space whilst being fully integrated within the school. This enables playgroup children to socialise with older children and their siblings that are already attending the school.

Playgroup sessions are available every morning, 9:00-1:00pm for just £20.00.  We are registered to take children from 2 years onward. Children aged 3 years and above can stay on for Nursery in school from 12:45pm - 3:15pm, free of charge; offering you total flexibility.

Care Inspectorate Wales

On September 24th, 2019, our playgroup setting received a routine inspection of our service from the Care Inspectorate Wales. The inspection was unannounced, and included observations of the playgroup staff, their interactions with the children in their care, documentation and policies and the setting itself.

We are delighted with the outcome of the inspection, and once again hugely proud of our playgroup. The report classified the playgroup as

"Good:- These are services with strengths and no important areas requiring significant improvement. They consistently exceed basic requirements, delivering positive outcomes for children and actively promote their well-being."

"Overall assessment

Children are happy, valued and experience positive interactions. They benefit from a variety of activities from which they can choose. They have a stimulating and well equipped environment in which to play and learn. They are cared for by staff who also work in the school and understand how to keep them safe and who promote daily outdoor play.

Leaders have an appropriate oversight of the service. They use feedback to plan for improvements and have a good relationship with parents.

Many new indoor and outdoor equipment and resources have been purchased to provide a greater range of learning experiences for the children such as new books to reflect children’s interests. Low level furniture has been introduced so children can easily help themselves. Hessian backed displayed boards contribute to a calm and welcoming environment. Numicon and scales have added interest to the number area as well as encouraging early mathematical skills. Policies and procedures have been reviewed and updated reflecting the running of the service. Children can have a school lunch whilst in the service and snack menus have been improved. Planning follows children’s interests and more natural storage and recycled natural materials such as corks provide a sensory experience for the children."
